Melissa Smith is a self-taught artist who specializes in interior mural art, pet portraits, and fine art paintings. Raised in the beautiful countryside of Upstate New York, Melissa has enjoyed drawing and painting since early childhood. Since moving to Texas in 2002, she has focused increasingly on nature with an emphasis on the seasons she misses from home. Recent works include acrylic landscapes, children’s wall murals, and animal portraits.
"My paintings are the materialization of my passion for searching for those small windows in life in which to escape. I use serene, soothing colors and almost fortuitous brush strokes each reflecting my longing to be in the painting, in the setting, in the moment, and my hope to provide insight into a more tranquil state of mind. There is so much beauty in life and I cherish the time I can spend in the serenity of capturing specific elements of this wondrous world around us."
